Bureau Dos and Don'ts
Do
Keep envelopes on file with the bureau for each call you have used in the past 5 years. We try to
keep track of callsign changes and route accordingly, but it makes things much
easier if we have envelopes for each call.
Notify the bureau of any address or callsign
changes.
Respond promptly to requests for envelopes (This means
you HAVE DX cards waiting for you).
Notify us if you don't want your cards.
Put your callsign on any correspondence with the
bureau.
If you send SASEs, send ONLY 6" x 9" envelopes with
callsign printed clearly in the upper left-hand corner.
If you want to buy envelopes from the Bureau, send no more than $6 at a time and please send mailing labels with your current address printed or typed. Make checks payable to "W5 QSL
Bureau"
If you have email, please consider keeping it updated in the QRZ on-line database. Many sorters use email to
communicate with you to notify you of the need for envelopes, etc. This saves the bureau time and money and gets your cards to you quicker. Most sorters
have made their email addresses public, please see the Sorter Info Page to locate your sorter's
email address. Talk to us, we don't bite.
Be patient, don't expect cards to arrive via the
bureau for at least one year after the QSO.
Remember that EVERYONE who works with the incoming bureau is an unpaid volunteer. We have lives, most of us, and occasionally like to work a little DX ourselves. We volunteer our time to help you!
Don't
Don't send us your outgoing QSLs. Send them to the
ARRL Outgoing QSL Service, direct to the station or his manager.
Don't send SASE's if you are "portable" 5, i.e. AA1Y/5
would go to the W1 Incoming Bureau.
Don't send or purchase fewer than two envelopes at a
time, 5-10 is the recommended number.
Don't make us hunt you down.
Don't complain unnecessarily, if you have a legitimate problem, we want to know about it, but be realistic (See DO above about being patient).
